Black and Blue Rugby

"As the sport of rugby quickly grew in the Flathead valley it did not take much for me to join in on the fun. During my senior year of high school I started playing for the Black and Blue and our team dominated the MYRU (Montana Youth Rugby Union), obtaining the first State Championship for the team. I am currently the President of the University of Montana Men's Rugby team and have initiated the process to incorporate our club into the Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference. The Black and Blue introduced me to a sport that has become a large part of my life. I want to thank my Uncle and Coach Bob St. Onge for facilitating my entry into the sport of rugby."
"Being a part of Black and Blue Rugby was an experience I will never forget. The whole program was made possible by the help of our Head Coach and his Non-Profit Organization Backstoppers Foundation. The Team always had a place to stay for away games and meals to enjoy before and after the games. We had the necessary equipment to perform productive practices and quality jerseys, all provided by Backstoppers Foundation. I am grateful for the willingness of our Coach to provide us with the necessary tools to learn such an amazing game."
"Black and Blue rugby has made me a highly efficient and confident student at The George Washington University and has given me a greater athletic ability to jump into other sports and physical activities. I am currently playing for the club water polo team at GW, and I ran the Marine Corps Marathon earlier this year, finishing in the top 17 percent. Although I am not playing rugby anymore due to time constraints influencing my rigorous academic schedule, I did play last year and started for the GW Rugby Club. I am still very good friends with a number of the guys on the team and actually live with a few currently. Rugby has taught me many things, but the greatest benefit of the Black and Blue Rugby Club lies within its ability to motivate young men (and women...if you are tough enough) to work hard for a goal and make sure to attain that goal at any cost."
"Black and Blue rugby prepared me for my college football career with the Montana Griz incredibly. Rugby showed me how to be physically and mentally tough and persevere through hardships. Winning the State Title in 2012 with the Black and Blue is something I will never forget and am proud to be a part of. Go Black and Blue!"
"I started playing rugby for Kalispell Black & Blue my sophomore year, and played every year under Coach Kenkel. Although I did all sorts of athletics growing up, I never had the mentorship or friendships that I did playing rugby. After high school I enlisted into the marine corps and have now ended up in Virginia where I am a crew chief on ch-46 helicopters . I have played rugby in a few places while being stationed in Virginia, and am currently playing for the Norfolk Blues, a Mens Division 1 Team which is part of the Capital Rugby Union. Nothing will ever beat the memories that were made while playing for the Black & Blue. I plan to get out of the Marines in the next year and attend college, of course somewhere I can play rugby."
"Black and Blue Rugby helped introduce me to a game that I love and can enjoy for a lifetime, while at the same time forming very strong friendships with my teammates and coaches. I am currently in my sophomore year of playing rugby for the Cal Poly Mustangs in San Luis Obispo, California. Without Black and Blue I definitely would not have played in college."
